Faubion Store & Post Office Built on old Highway 183 in 1942 and became the 2nd Post Office / Grocery. It was used as the primary Post Office until 1979. Later used as an antique store until it was torn down in the 80’s.
Running Brushy School The original log schoolhouse was established in the 1860s. It was replaced in 1877 by a one-story wood frame building, which remained in operation until 1937. The current school was built by Leander I.S.D. in 1987. Located on El Salido in front of Cypress Elementary School, the marker is partially hidden by trees.
Buttercup Community Buttercup was located less than a mile South of Cedar Park. Benjamin Thomas "Doc" Crumley settled there in the middle 1800's. He was part Cherokee Indian and wore his hair in two long braids. He gathered roots and herbs and processed them in his office for use for treating his patients. He was known as a very good doctor and was often called for consultation by Austin doctors.
Let's Take A Journey Of special note is the actual beginning of Cedar Park. The name "Cedar Park" was the third name for the area, first known as Running Brushy and then Brueggerhoff. It was bestowed upon the area by Emmett Cluck, the son of George Washington and Harriet (Hattie) Cluck. This appellation was announced in 1887. Thus, Cedar Park is actually 123 years old this year!
